(un)Spring Cleaning: 5 Tips for Organizing Your Bathroom

Something that most Staunton renters will find challenging is keeping a bathroom organized. A bathroom that’s organized is one that’s easier to maintain. And, it even helps in your morning routines! Clutter can produce feelings of anxiety or frustration. Hence, make sure your bathroom is organized to promote feelings of relaxation. To get to that point of having an organized bathroom, though, you have to really put in the effort and time! Here’s what you can do to get that bathroom organized and ready to go!

Declutter

In order to get started on an organized bathroom, it is a big must to declutter. Most of us need to realize that we have way too many things inside our bathrooms, a lot of which are not being used at all. For this reason, it’s a wise decision to look through all of your cabinets, drawers, or shelves, to find out if there are any items that should be disposed of. It should go without saying that anything expired should head straight to the trash. Take all of the similar items, group them together and take stock. Throw out any items that are duplicated, but still weren’t used in the past year. It is then that you can look at the items you want to keep and start organizing them.

Categorize to Organize

After decluttering, you can start categorizing your items. This makes organizing so much easier. If the only person that uses the bathroom is you, then you can simply categorize items according to your routine. For example, you may want to set up a shelf, bin, or drawer for your morning routine and then another for the evening routine. If the bathroom is not exclusively for your use, though, you can provide caddies for the personal items of others who use it. The caddies can be placed on a shelf or cabinet.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers

One sign of a disorganized bathroom is when people are clueless as to where items are. To steer clear of this, you can make it easy to find items by using clear storage containers. Your already categorized items can then be placed inside these containers. Shallow drawer organizers can be great for keeping toothbrushes, makeup, and other small items neat. If you have taller containers, you can use those to separate certain items in shelves or cabinets.

A Place for Everything

As you re-organize your bathroom, don’t forget to designate a place for items in the room. In doing so, you can avoid going back to clutter. Another tip is to keep things off of the bathroom counter. Instead, go for bins, drawers, and baskets. Don’t underestimate the practice of labeling storage containers — it works wonders for keeping track of where things are!

Use Your Space Effectively

Bathrooms are often cluttered because they are small. Typically, you will find it very challenging to make good use of space, since you don’t have a lot to begin with. Still, you will have, at the very least, some unused space in the bathroom. You should make full use of whatever space is available to make your bathroom look neat. Hooks behind doors, storage containers attached to the cabinet doors, and the space above the toilet are all potential storage areas. You can try to maximize the use of these spaces to keep your bathroom clean and organized.
